Definition of Insanity...(12,500 TG Gear)

That's basically 187,500 Trade Goods down the drain. Imagine how fortunate I felt when I got this not as crappy rifle that I upgraded out of necessity about 2 months ago.

It's pretty much a guarantee that if I get Gold Wide Spread, I also get useless Interrupt. I guess this is NG's way of punishing me for Raiding a ton.

Out of fear of sounding ignorant, what are the most desirable traits for an assault rifle?
-
Besides wide spread what else is good ?
-
Never have any fear about asking questions @8N8 !!
For me, the "ideal" assault weapon would have Gold Piercing, Gold Wide Spread, and Silver Lucky. Piercing is the only gun trait that can reduce body shots against walkers (and the only chance at not getting a body shot vs 4/5+ levels above your Survivor). Wide Spread helps you shoot many more Walkers, and Lucky will increase the chances that Piercing works (and Sure Shot if you have it on your Survivor). -
My idea Assault weapon would be Silver Luck, Gold Spread, Gold Piercing. Also happy with Deadly as well.
Some people might disagree with me, but I don't like Critical and Destructive on Assaults as much because (A) Assaults don't have a guaranteed Critical with their charge attacks and (B) those traits stack well with Sure Shot, which I don't like as much on Assaults because they have a much shorter range than Shooters/Hunters, so they are more likely to move before an attack.
Silence and Interrupt just make me LOL.Proud member of Mavericks OG, a top 3 global GW and challenge guild.

Thanks for info.... y'all are gangsters in this game I've learned a ton of good shit already !
-
Silence trait on a weapon is equal to defensive stance trait on a survivor. They are really awesome.
-
I like critical because 100% critical will one-shot all walkers the assault hits, up to 2-3 lvl above my survivor lvl.
One-shotting hordes of walkers is awesome.
That said, when body-shots become more frequent, critical becomes more useless. -
Thanks a lot! Those do sound like good traits to have. Thank you for the help!OneLessTitan said:Never have any fear about asking questions @8N8 !!

I just bought mine today. Silver Arc, Gold Lucky and Gold Silence, I might have to try again! -
For reference, here's how close you can get to 100% critical (assuming that you're not a whale who has a ton of pink star survivors). Let's assume the following:
Survivor traits:
- Sure Shot: 40% at level 5
- Lucky: 20% at level 5
Weapon traits:
- Accurate: 15% at gold
- Lucky: 18% at gold
With Sure Shot and Accurate, your base chance of critical is 55%. If you have 38% Luck, you'll have a 76% chance of scoring a critical hit (if you don't move).
With a level 4 Daryl as your Leader (8% critical), you'll have a base of 63% and an 87% chance of scoring a critical hit after factoring in Luck.
With a level 4 Carol as your Leader (13% critical, I think), you'll have a base of 68% and a 94% chance of scoring a critical hit after factoring in Luck.
Now, obviously having pink star survivors and traits will definitely give you that last little bump to 100%, but this post is for the benefit of the majority of players (whom I'm assuming don't have pink star survivors, or at most, 1-pink star survivors).Proud member of Mavericks OG, a top 3 global GW and challenge guild.

@JayZ Don't forget about the aprox. 30% base chance at critical.
I've tested with a warrior on same level walkers.
No added luck or critical. 33 out of hundred where killed by critical hits. -
I've had similar (bad) luck, but found that silver spread is quite workable on most maps I think. Even in raids, since most people will be too spread out for gold to be an advantage anyway.
I would have stopped at your silver spread, gold crit chance, gold crit magnitude |-]
I find when you are hitting so many targets all the time, that while straight damage is nice, you will be critting so often that those traits more than make up for straight damage.
I settled for silver spread, gold pierce, and gold crit mag in this last round of 12.5K's. -
Hey @OneLessTitan
That's terrible luck man sorry ... though I would upgrade the third row far right In a heartbeat. I think the silver luck , gold piercing , gold spread assault rifle is the new Yeti (like the old silver interrupt , gold caliber, gold luck hunting rifle) -
A very important note about the math that @JayZ just laid out....
This is how the formula for combat mechanics works, and has been "semi-confirmed" (hopefully I eventually get "solid confirmation" at some point...
1. First, the body shot % is calculated. Eventually, this % becomes 100%, and I don't think it's ever 0%. You still get body shots vs very low level walkers, but that damage is still enough to kill the walker, so the "Body Shot" text doesn't show up. Traits like Accurate, Sure Shot, and Hero Leader Traits do nothing to lower this %. That's why Piercing is so valuable.
2. If the shot is not a body shot, then Normal or Critical attack is determined. This is when Accurate, Sure Shot, Hero Leader Traits take effect.
So, the math from @JayZ is sound, but only when the attack is not a body shot, but not for ALL attacks.

just got my TG Store restock and......
F**K me in the GOAT A*S!!!! -
And it doesn't include the base chances.OneLessTitan said:So, the math from @JayZ is sound, but only when the attack is not a body shot, but not for ALL attacks.
I'm pretty sure that his first example, leading to 76%,
Actually becomes 100%, except for body-shots that is.

I would probably jizz my pants if got the gun you just got. I would gladly take any combo of Piercing and Spread...I don't care if it's silver or gold, but they are vital to me if I'm going to do well in high level challenge missions. Any of those rifles with gold/silver spread are perfectly fine in almost all missions (raids/scavenge/low challenge), but when traits really matter (high level challenge), there are only a few that actually help.Gothgul said:I've had similar (bad) luck, but found that silver spread is quite workable on most maps I think. Thanks for the caveats @jimmorrison369 and @OneLessTitan
Assuming no body shots and a base critical of 30%:
Sure Shot (40%) + Accurate (15%) + Base (30%) = 85%.
Now you have a lot more flexibility. For example, you only need 18% Luck (total) to get to 100%. That means that you can do without Lucky on your weapon (or your survivor), and replace it with another trait that might be useful.
Alternatively, you could have silver Accurate, which would make for the following:
Sure Shot (40%) + Accurate (10%) + Base (30%) = 80%.
Even then, you only need 25% Luck (total) to get to 100%. If you didn't have Lucky on your weapon (or your survivor), you would have ~96%.
Finally, you could pretty much do without Accurate, which would result in the following:
Sure Shot (40%) + Base (30%) = 70%.
If you had 38% Luck, you would still have a 97% chance of critical. You could replace Accurate completely with a more useful trait (such as Piercing to reduce body shots or Destructive to increase crit damage since you'll almost be guaranteed critical shots every turn).
Given the choice between option 2 and option 3 (Luck vs. Accurate) to get higher than 95% chance of critical, I would pick Lucky over Accurate because of Lucky's stacking effect with other traits.Proud member of Mavericks OG, a top 3 global GW and challenge guild.

Here's what I've gotten before I gave up trying to find a good one with gold wide spread. At least I did get one would have been perfect if the gold lucky and silver wide spread were swapped. Can't wait to get it upgraded
-

@OneLessTitan and others, thanks for info about piercing trait. I haven't had enough time to experiment with piercing but sounds like it's vital trait for doing high level challenge. And these rifles I already got makes me happier. Now I'm
gonna look for new holy grail of assault rifle: Silver luck, gold piercing, gold spread. -

I´m sure it´s just a language barrier...but why I want to reduce body shots against walkers?
I thought it´s all about giving them body shots -
I have faced a similar problem. Silenced trait is my prophecy...
6 out of 7 assault rifles are silenced (remaining one has Interrupt):
4 out of 5 hunter rifles are silenced (remaining one has Interrupt):
To me that one is the worst weapon trait in game, pretty much makes weapon have only 2 traits, still having to pay for 3 while upgrading... That's how you waste 150k TG. The most desired traits are Golden Wide spread/Large calliber plus any combination of Piercing, Luck and Lethal.
This gave me a choice - commit sudoku or upgrade the shitty weapons. I've chosen the latter... for now... -
@Disalive Why you´re using one star level 1 rifles, when you have five star level 20-23?
-
@Invader I've hired 1 legendary hunter, which is training atm and 3 epic ones, which I might consider promoting at some point. Right now they are all level 12-15, so they're quite comfortable with level 1 rifles.
-
I'm not as down on the Silenced Trait as many people appear to be. In high level Challenge Missions, where Piercing is very help to reducing body shots, another goal of mine is to limit the # of Walkers that spawn, and Silenced can help do that. It would help if the % was higher, but I'd consider upgrading a weapon with Silenced if it had two other very desirable Traits....
Assaults are not the only place I've been snake-bitten by the 12,500 TG crate: Hunter Rifles have also been hard to come by for me, even though I've upgraded 4 of them since I can manage without Large Caliber, even if it's not ideal. All the following level 20 or upgraded 23 Rifles came from the TG store, as did the only 3 Pistols that I have that I haven't upgraded.
-
@OneLessTitan 30% chance or up to like 40% with double Luck is quite questionable. With 3 ranged survivors counter will be full anyway; with a mix of melee (esp Scout with Threat reduction) might help abit, but chance is still quite low. So, in general let's say it is very situational.
I wouldn't really give a damn about if I did not get it in 10 of 12 weapons from TG shop. So this makes me doubt if I should keep trying to find a decent weapon, because it starts to seem pointless.
In addition I don't play challenges above 30 stars usually and for any other type of missions there's nothing better then raw damage output. On story I'm stuck on 14-2 Nightmare, where no traits or survivors can save the poor guy from dying on first turn.
-
I have to disagree. I have my "stealth" ranged team, all 6-star with good traits, and all with silver or gold silenced (on lvl23 legendary weapons with 2 solid traits). When I trot them out all together, they decimate walkers and have surprising luck not spawning too many more. Bad for farming, great for harder missions.
ie, I'd never give Glenn or Maggie a silenced weapon -
@OneLessTitan ..you are luck! I NEVER had an assault weapon lvl 20 with gold interrupt and wide spread. Only interrupt or wide spread... And i only but 12.500TG offers..."Always be yourself unless you can be a capybara. Then always be a capybara".
