Hi guys,

Seen a few topics about this but not to my satisfaction...
I would like to know from you pro outpost raiders if you would lineup Daryl for your outpost defence... or perhaps a hunter with better traits...
The retaliate trait is usefull unless there is a shooter with large range...
The other standard traits except dodge arent that great I think...
Or would you prefer a shooter above Daryl... that means no retaliate and no multiple raider hits...

Let me know what you think!

Thanks :)

Depends on what map you use and what's your defending idea.
My defensive map is short ranged, so my lineup consists of Negan (mostly for his Surv. Instinct trait) with the wide margin, and the plan is that he either works as a cannon-fodder or stuns some attackers who would be finished of by a leg assault and shooter. Also, I give free way to the TG crate to avoid unnecessary conflict, obv. Works well, however most +2 lvl raiders and some cunning guys brake through each day.
When I'm on the attacker side I usually go for the crates, killing only when unavoidable as a default. But every now and then I take my chances on killing the defenders for XP and for... fun. It happens when they are so badly placed that winning is possible with no to minimal hospital time. However I always stop when I see Daryl... his retaliate trait makes free wins almost impossible, so I tend to better focus on the crates. So, yeah, Daryl surely saves some influence for my opponents.

Note, that Daryl's retaliate is bugged, it hits his teammates as well. So place him carefully, don't ever put a defender in the possible line of fire.

You got proof his retaliate is bugged? Are there more players that experienced this?
If thats the case why didn't NG fixed this? It seems you dont use Daryl but prefer a assault and shooter with no kind of retaliate? Then they are vulnerable for attacks... I would skip your bruiser at start...

There are lots of bugs in outpost. Most annoying is Survial Instinct activating w/o Negan present, but others have seen Carl's Seond chance come up without him being there. There's a thread about Negan's SI, search it with additional bugs (eg. Daryl) mentioned by me and others. I don't want to convince you, I just wanted to make this bug clear, you're welcome. If you need more proof go out and try it.
And, be my guest, come, take out my bruiser. See what happens :)
(Well at least you can see)

@Passie Well, at this moment I´m allowing others to raid me and I have mix of lvl17/18 common survs as defenders. But once in a while, when Im getting close to 3k influence, Im switching to Negan/Daryl/Rosita. Negan with upgraded gear can survive several shots with his 3k+ HP bar and retaliate of Rosita and Daryl is great for weakening attackers before they are wiped out. Sure, any setup is beatable, but Im usually winning 4 of 5 attacks on my outpost.
Another great option for defending is using 3 bruisers. If they are properly geared and with 50/75% stun resist, it is really hard to wipe them. I believe not possible without any hospital time. Unless one place them such way, they can be picked one by one with possible recharge on incoming walkers.

I would agree with @szgerg77 that it really depends on your defense strategy. Daryl is best used to ward off an attacker as his leader trait with % critical chance coupled with retaliate makes raiders think twice about engaging because they know that they will get some hospital time.

However, Daryl does not have great defensive traits. His leadership trait and defensive stance traits don't help him so he is in that respect a 3 star survivor. Very easy to kill compared to some other non-hero hunters. So if you are trying to force the raider into battle it is best not to use Daryl.

Hope this helps and good luck to you!
