Well Andy just decided to leave after 19 years. Who knows if his tunnel was also done in two weeks!

Real question is how'd he get the poster back up after climbing into a narrow hole? Tight enough for a rock to peirce through and not crumble.

I know it's OT, but this complaint has always bugged me. They clearly show in the 'reveal/flashback' scene the poster is pinned up at the top. When Andy works on his hole, he keeps the poster up and just lifts it up at the edge so he can lean beneath it and dig, like moving aside a curtain to peer out a window. Then he can stop digging if guards come by without having to re-hang the poster. He could easily lift it aside to climb into the hole for his escape.




In other words, he never took the poster down, just lifted aside and climbed in the tunnel, and it fell back into place as soon as his body was out of the way.

/end rant, back to topic
