What are the rules/restrictions for renaming survivors?

All in the title. What are the full details for renaming?

I see survivors names are censored when I raid in outposts. It's a good question because I don't know the censorship rules either.

Just the spaces is all I've seen too, also if you try to give them too long of a name......

I know curse words aren't censored (at least they weren't a while back) as I've come across outposts with f*ck in the name of the survivor also my favourite 3 survivors I've come across in an outpost tg_blocker, eat_sh*t (there was no asterix) and ha_ha

I have a survivor named Donald and one named John, both in my outpost defence. Amazingly, the third guy's named doesn't seem to be censored!

My ign is same as my name on this forum and "spunk" shows up as ***** why is it okay uncensored on this forum but not in the game? Besides that, it's not a curse word and the show the game is based off of is for mature audiences only. *shrug*

People who are spunky are called full of spunk. But the reason it is not allowed in the game is probably the same reason the ESPN reporter named Robert Lee was not allowed to work. Lol

PC culture. Probably because I have the name Robert Lee in this post it will be deleted and I might be thrown in jail.

That being said, I think the game uses a program (much like the WSOP app) that automatically flags variations of potentially offensive phrases and automatically blocks them. Guess it is more like a luck of the draw then what you actually mean to say.

I can understand venues such as on line forums needing programs that flag certain words to the moderators so that they can review it and handle this situation appropriatly. But don't let the program make the disicions on what to censor. That's just lazyness IMHO.

Edit. And allows to many mistakes and wrong censorship.

Fair enough, but I think that now that we live during a time where both C--- words can be said on prime time cable television, spunk should be the least of anyone's concern.

Well ... it seems from the posts, that you can call them what you want as long as there are no spaces, so the OP may well have considered it answered.

I haven't bothered renaming any yet, but I would guess there is a maximum length, and permitted ASCII characters, that would also need to be considered. Clearly as space isn't allowed there's a possibility that others characters that won't work

So if you did change a survivors name to an odd character like €π then would they become the artist formally known as..... Lol. Like Prince.

@Coon - Nope. Curiosity got the better off me and special characters didn't work. I have seen character sets from different languages when doing outpost raids though.
