If you have any badges to help fill in the data, please post a screenshot here. There is a range of %s and flat rates you can get for the badges, so share with us if you have something that falls outside of the range. Here's my initial log of what I've seen thus far:

(I will continually update this with new data. The left side is for the % increases, the right side are for the flat values)

Here's what I've got so far:
Edit: these were all made with components of equal rarity, mostly with one of each component type. -
I was thinking the same thing! I didn't do any screen shots, but I crafted a badge (all components with the same rarity) with 4 Cloth and 4 Food. The badge from using all Food was Damage Reduction. The badge for using all Cloth was Increase in Crit Chance.
-
Here's my next two Badges:
1) All Chemicals
2) All Edibles
There's probably no correlation @Governator -- but if we can eliminate these scenarios and deem them random, I think we could make a safe assumption they effect is pretty much random.
-
Not sure if any of these are helpful but there is one 5 star flat amount crit damage that I don't see on your chart
-
@OneLessTitan I didn't have any 2* chemicals to replicate your experiment exactly, but-
Edit: sorry for the confusion. The first pic was taken after I crafted. I used 4 1* chemicals. -
What the??
I was under the impression I had to use each component and even more surprised I don't need four. Wow! That's crazy!-TJS - Member of W-SNation Wars 🇦🇺 Australian Team Captain -

You made that with 1 badge fragment and 1 componet???
I tried some thing after seeing your pic but couldn't create (create was not highlighted) am I missing something?-TJS - Member of W-SNation Wars 🇦🇺 Australian Team Captain -

I now realize what I'm looking at in background is after you created it.-TJS - Member of W-SNation Wars 🇦🇺 Australian Team Captain -
@TJS, my mind was blowing up there for a minute too. As long as @paintbeast posted those two images out of order, I can gather the pieces of my skull and reset.“Simply put, there’s a vast ocean of sh!t you people don’t know sh!t about. Rick knows every fine grain of said sh!t.”

Do you use the autofill option or not?
It is a bit annoying, that there is no possibility to get the level you want, also if you use all epic items as example you can get greenies -
epic badge with dmg reduction only 11% (+3% if...) in my case
-
Some I got:
-
-
My results with the gifts:
1 rare badge component + 4 rare components (one of each): Epic badge 17% Critical Dmg (Bonus: 4% if this survivor has Def Stance)
1 epic badge component +4 epic components (one of each): Epic badge 14% Critical Chance (Bonus: 4% if this survivor is in a mission with Merle)
-
These are my badges. They were all made with the fragment and components being the same rarity. With the exception of one set of epic pieces giving a rare badge, the rest turned out at the same level as the components/fragments.
-
One of each epic got me the epic +418/merle.
One of each rare got me the +11%.
Hodgepodge with an uncommon fragment got me the rare +9%/shooter. -
I haven't found any badge fragments. Sorry I can't help. I can't make any badges.

when one badge has a speial condition like +2% if you use a bruiser as a mission teamate, could I attach it to a bruiser and still get the bonus?

Nope. Bruiser has to be a teammate. -
These are mine. Got a few grey components from missions but haven't found a reliable way of getting them at the moment.

I used all rare and it crafted an uncommon. Why can't it be simple... say we use all rare, get a rare... all epic components get an epic, all legendary yields a legendary. And when you mix n match thats where chance comes in
-
It is extremely lame that you can use all rares and get an uncommon badge or use all epics and get a rare badge, etc.
That said, the crafting screen at least tells you exactly what the possible range is, so it shouldn't be a surprise. And it is possible to get a rare badge from all uncommon components.
My current strategy is using my common and uncommon components to craft low level badges and saving rares and above until I have enough to put together a guarantee of a badge that is rare or better. -
I just used up some common stuff (1☆)
1☆ Fragment
1 ☆ Sardine tins * 4
I got uncommon Badge with 9% Crit damage but no other bonus.
Still waiting for better components for my better fragments.

Here's a nice one.
Epic Fragment + 2 Epic Metal + 2 Epic Food-TJS - Member of W-SNation Wars 🇦🇺 Australian Team Captain -
This is why I am playing around with options before crafting but mostly not mixing low level pices with high.
You could get the same rarity badge in pic2 without burning an epic badge fragment.
And here, the max level remains same but the minimum changes based on badge fragment level.
I've already pulled a few rares from mixing 1 and 2 star pieces. Much more satisfying then dropping all epic and leg pieces for a rare. -
This is the same situation as it was with the flamethrower damage. A guaranteed higher floor is more desirable than a possible higher ceiling.
I imagine I'm not alone in saying that if I put all Epic level components into the combine, that I will happily sacrifice the possibility of getting a Legendary badge if I can ensure getting an Epic badge and never a Rare badge."I always say, if you must mount the gallows, give a jest to the crowd, a coin to the hangman, and make the drop with a smile on your lips." -Birgitte Silverbow, The Fires of Heaven, The Wheel of Time
