Bruiser Thoughts

I have 99 (hundred and 66) problems...but Bruiser Tokens aren't one! My issue has been deciding what to do with them: Here are my 3 current options:

As of now, I'm heavily leaning towards seeing what Tyler has to offer...Even though Retaliate doesn't work in Overwatch, I'm hopeful it will at some point in the future (been saying that for over a year now...lol)...my thoughts
1. If I get Iron Skin, he'd be about perfect in my eyes...Lucky would also be fine
2. Power Strike would probably be my next choice (for attacks after DEF Stance)
3. Ruthless/Strong/Vigilant would not ideal...
4. Bullet Dodge might even be acceptable if I chose to be an optimist and put him in Outposts...honestly, i might want BD over the #3 Traits

So the question:
Would anybody carry on with Bronn or Scarlett (I will probably keep them around for Distance stunning fodder and their punish trait which is helpful). If so, why?

Punish, retaliate and defensive stance are a great combination. Unless the fifth trait is terrible, I'd rate him significantly higher than Scarlett or Bron.

No, I wouldn't put any more effort into those two. Those trait combinations just don't gel for me.

Definitely check out Tyler's 5th out.
Like you said, if you get Iron Skin he'd be awesome!

I'm not sure what more I can tell you that you wouldn't know. I'd love to see how he turns out so please let us know how it goes.

(ps; Thanks for all your hard work on your WordPress site! Keep it up, it's a blessing for many of us players.)

@OneLessTitan I'm not a fan of DS on a bruiser. With the iron skin trait and great badges, you can hit the 80% damage reduction cap without iron skin on armor. Or with iron skin, good badges, and iron skin on armor you can hit the 80% cap, making DS irrelevant.

For me, iron skin, retaliate, and punish are the three key ingredients to a great bruiser. Then goes either lucky, dodge, or power-strike. You get as many attacks as possible this way, up to 3 per turn (when you rely on DS you don't get as many attacks in, which is unfortunate when you're running +5 with Sasha as leader and want those charge points).

3 damage reduction badges and 3 health badges. Gold health, gold stun resist, and dodge or hazard suit on armor.

Just my bruiser philosophy, but it tends to work quite well.

@OneLessTitan , I was in the same boat. Took forever to find my ideal bruiser (Dec 2017). Found her during the last Hero radio event as an epic and got lucky with her 5th trait. She’s a beast.

@zbot @OneLessTitan would you consider this to be worth continuing?

I wrote something on the topic of perfect traits.

    https://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/comment/294955/#Comment_294955

I don’t chase stars but do like to collect prime survivors. Before PrimaDonna, Christina was my bruiser placeholder (see attached my bruiser survivors). Without the added pressure of stars, I can take a long term approach to upgrading survivors.

Whack a Mole is a good bruiser, will I personally continue to upgrade her? It depends, I love the attack, retaliate, punish combo. DS is great also but doesn’t help with my bruiser playstyle.

Hold on to her but keep looking and save your tokens for now.

Tyler needs IS and then is perfect.

Among those 3 choices, I'd choose Tyler.

Since badges have been put in to play my favorite Bruiser build is:

    - Punish
    - Iron Skin
    - Dodge
    - Lucky
    - Retaliate or Power Strike

    Thanks for the feedback everyone:

    @zbot -- nice bruiser!!!

@ShadowaceAz - I'm in agreement with zbot on your bruiser...I'd probably keep them around, but would probably hold out for a while and save up some tokens and hope to come across one a bit more ideal..

@sbf - I like that theory of no DS...with the way I currently play (putting my best Damage Resistance badges on Assaults, then Michonne), I think it may be a looong while before I have enough DR badges to put on a bruiser to make DS useless, but it's definitely something I'm going to think about going forward...

Since I had almost 10k bruiser tokens, I went for the promotion on tyler...

possibly the trait I wanted least...lol...oy!!!

@OneLessTitan Oh, well, it wasn't the best trait to go with the other traits. But it wasn't Bullet Dodge!!!! Yay!

It's always a big time gamble trying to upgrade a rare upwards! You really have to be either really lucky to get both remaining traits out of the 9 or so available traits for each class. The token investment from rare to Legendary is much higher than Epic to Legendary. It would be ok, if you were to get back what you invested if you ended up trashing them, but you dont.

    Whoohoo!
Got lucky on #4... let's hang around for #5!

But at this point I'd say keeper?

Dang! Nice one! You need punish to finish off that one!

Would like to have retaliate on this bruiser, but I'm pretty satisfied otherwise.

@Camel56 I've got cramps in my fingers and toes while keeping them crossed already. Need tokens... badly..
    Bruiser needs food, badly.
    Bruiser is about to die!

Haha old arcade game reference. I'm so tempted to recycle one of my other two, but they will still be very useful, so I have to keep smacking myself.

Rather than start a new thread I thought to use this of of same subject.

Picked up this Brusier recently. I love Punish & Retaliate combination, my question is whether Ruthless is an effective trait for Brusiers? I don't have any with Ruthless so I'm considering upgrading in the future but thought I'd ask others for opinions.

    Thanks in advance.

That's exactely my point about my Bruiser quest one week ago..
    https://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/34013/bruiser-quest#latest

I wanted a bruiser with punish and i ended with strong...so no luck and def stance

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDxAePJ8q3Q

My point after that...probably no sense to waste more tokens...i started my run to 4 pink in my old bruiser without punish and i will grow to pink Morgan and Negan
I will probably need 12 months to have my punish bruiser ready to play round 30+ ....The question is ....I will be still playing NML at this point?...maybe better go on to 4 pink with the old one...

Yes! Yes! And a resounding Yes!

There is a bug that does not let them all work in Overwatch that has been confirmed by Shteevie, however if you plan to use it to attack and destroy, you can end up with 3 hits in one attack. These 3 traits are exactly the ones I have been told to look for, so long as you don't get nerfed with Vigilante.

IMHO Ruthless is great, others may disagree.

Oh, here it is Retaliate – Although Retaliate doesn’t currently activate on overwatch, dealing some extra damage when attacked can be very helpful.

I think that ruthless may be usefull but only on offensive type of bruiser.Example dmg+dmg+dmg+dmg res+dmg res+dmg res/hp.I want make this type of bruiser for variety, out of curiosity. My new bruiser from other thread does not have ruthless as trait but I will find armor with that in future. What you want to unlock as 5th trait to be happy with her?

    @kamilowaty
I'd like Defensive Stance. But lucky might make a nice offensive Brusier.
I wouldn't complain with Iron Skin or Dodge.

I'm just not sure about Ruthless. It'll be a while before I think about upgrading. I have another nice Brusier with Retaliate & Punish which is awesome. I guess that's mainly why I kept this one.

Not a fan of Ruthless on Bruisers myself, but I need to qualify that I don't use them offensively.

If the fifth trait is strong, then I'd say yes. But that's a niche playing style that very few people seem to try so you're mostly on your own for trying thigns out. ( I do think this forum needs a Melee subcategory in Strategy, to discuss a neglected aspect of the game.)

If you don't get strength as the 5th, then I think it's going to be an awkward mix of traits.

Thanks for the input. I guess everyone likes their different traits. Strong wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't be disappointed. You're definitely right about an odd mix.

As I mentioned, it's unlikely I'll check out that 5th anytime soon.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

It's just that I don't see ruthless as useful if you're not building a damage bruiser. When you have ruthless *and* power strike (which I would ordinarily see as something for warriors or scouts), then I don't see much point in iron skin or defensive stance as the 5th trait. Ruthless, power strike and strong combine to amplify the damage. Having just 2 out of the 3 and then IS or DS is a mismatch.
