Concerning defenders...

I tend to unequip any survivors I am not using. Is this something I should stop doing, and have everyone equipped all the time? Gear swapping is already a headache, and that’s just going to make it worse. Also, is there a way to tell who the defenders are or potentially who they could be?

I'd like to know that also. I assume it just picks a random team of your survivors. In my case, I normally keep my upgraded gear unequipped until needed. So if anyone goes up against my toons, I'll get slaughtered.

Don't worry! They are picked automatically and so are the gear they use. So theoretically it should take your strongest survivor/hero and your strongest weapon, and by strongest I mean that it's based on the survivor/hero level + pink stars or weapon level. If you have multiple weapons and survivors at the same level, then it's a random pick among the options. Classes are also random.

We've seen some inconsistency based on players report so far though... where the game for some reason doesn't pick the strongest survivor but a selection of random heroes, but it seems it's a corner case.

How deep does the game pick?

How many defenders per player are chosen?

For example
I have 52/57 spots filled and 19 heroes unlocked
