Harpoon Gun

So after buying it weeks ago, I’ve finally started using it this week. This was the first time I’ve found it to be useful. It REALLY needs a buff, and there are two very obvious buffs. Either one of these would actually encourage people to buy the Harpoon Gun, because it’s otherwise useless.

1. Make it one charge point ALL the time, OR

2. Make it silenced

NG shouldn’t worry about it being OP. If they make it one charge point, then it would still be hard to use in maps that cause threat. If they make it silenced, it would still take a while to charge and might not be the best weapon at the highest levels.

Plus, there are still other viable Hunter strategies like fire damage, stun, shotgun, etc.

Come on NG, make it happen! You really want to try to create more balance between Melee and Ranged? This is a great starting point...

Yeah I'm actually a little sad I don't have it after my BBQ struggles! But buying a weapon for one map/event just isn't an option for me. Another way to buff it would be to make the root last 2 turns, that way you can try to get re-charged during the 2nd turn.

Isnt the point of pay 2 win guns to be op? I dont understand why they made harpoon gun so bad

@Danski_46 my guess is no. If they can’t buff the one people already bought, I would hope they would be sensible and considerate and issue a free buffed Harpoon Gun. This is a really cool concept, but it’s going to end up like the Bazooka or Chainsaw (a novelty item with limited practical utility) unless it gets buffed.

Not sure. But If they can’t buff the existing one, I’d assume they’d make it right and have us “trash” our current and give us a new one. That would be the right thing to do anyways lol

But I’ve always been a vote for Making it a silenced weapon. Won’t make it OP and it will allow us to pair with melee. Will help the balancing a little and can pair with the winter bow also.

I own the harpoon gun and I agree it's mostly useless without silence.

But ...

It occurred to me that if it were silent it would become the premiere Hunter weapon in NML...

A harpoon gun...

... That's kinda... Meh...

Maybe if there was also a silent Crossbow too? Or hunters long bow?

This game would be one step away from a total joke if the primary weapons of the Apocalypse were a harpoon gun, a dragons tongue and a pickle jar...

I get what you're saying about the harpoon gun and a pickle jar but the dragon's tongue? It's about as cool a warrior weapon as they come

I'd vote for the harpoon gun to be silent like the winter bow. Crossbows should also not cause threat and if you have silenced on a weapon it should give you a Max chance (80%) of not causing threat... that may make ranged more relevant since Alpha tries to address body shots at high RSL. Most times at high level you generate more walkers than you are trying to kill. Kinda self defeating.

Can you elaborate on what the weapon (I'm gonna stay away from calling this pickle-poon, sorry @jrodrf2 ) does on normal attacks and the charge attack?

Sure! It operates as-is on normal attacks except it is silenced like the Pickle Jar. On charged attacks, it is also silenced and roots the enemy for one turn. For added bonus, the pickle explodes in a radius like the Pickle Jar and stuns everyone in the radius for an additional turn. Too OP?

OH I like that I might actually use hunters other than the usual Sasha missions with that weaspon. And it will not be TOO OP since ranged is SO far behind Melee at this time.

Yes causes double threat on a charge, so that sucks, but if there's no spawn counter...
