To complete any of the token event campaigns, you've never NEEDED to spend actual money to obtain all the rewards. You will, however, have to restart the distance at least 3 times to earn enough tokens for the final 2 rewards. This is done with Gold which could be purchased, but can also readily be accumulated through normal play of the game. Granted, you have to be judicious with your spending of gold to have enough on hand for events like these, but the point still stands that you do not "have to PURCHASE tokens in order to obtain BETA."
Also, this has been mentioned in the previous "News" items concerning past events, although I noticed that the Bloomsday news blurb doesn't specifically state this--at least not in the in-game text, so I suppose that could cause a little confusion.
EDIT: added information -
I always look here before I bother to reply.
I always decide what are the chances this person will come back to read any reply that I make?
Likely? Not likely?
Ok moving on...

Well dickweed..... I've come back to read any intelligent responses..... I see you don't have one.
I'm not paying $13 for 500 tokens when I only need 60. Rip-Off!!!!

I restarted The Distance twice, never missed anything 'Free', daily's and missions. Restarts cost MONEY for gold, it is not Free if it becomes required to use gold. IF, if the developers were smart, they could offer 100 tokens for $5 which would generate MORE income than offering 500 tokens for $13.TJCart said:To complete any of the token event campaigns, you've never NEEDED to spend actual money to obtain all the rewards. So all these people who respond the game is free, it's not free if you need to buy gold to get what you need. -
You keep saying that you reset the distance twice. But you need to reset it three times.
I have beta without spending money. It is possible, you’ve just messed up. -
Restarts do not cost MONEY for gold. They only cost gold. I can assure you that I have never purchased gold and am currently sitting at over 3K gold, even after purchasing some of the Special Ability weapons offered for gold in the TG shop.Zorba1118 said:

Apparently you missed two The Distance restarts which could have been free.
If you are arguing that you didn't have enough gold on hand to restart The Distance and felt that you needed to buy gold to do so, then that's a separate issue entirely. Yes, everything in the game is not unlocked for free, you have to spend time or money. If you would like to play some "games" that are "free," my daughter has plenty of Sago Mini games that have all the content unlocked at the beginning. Try some games for pre-kindergarteners--they might be more up your alley.

TJCart -- It's quite obvious your intellectual ability is running in the negatives and the next step up for you would be to buy some toilet paper. Unfortunately, I'm not sure you'll be able to use it effectively since you don't have the mental ability to understand which end to use it.

Let’s keep thing civil.
Closed for cooler heads to prevail.
NG is upfront about what’s needed to get to 3,000 tokens.
For newer players without the gold reserve, yes purchase will be needed.
For veteran players with gold reserve, no purchase necessary.
Both viewpoints can be correct it depends on your particular situation.
