Shane's Buckshot: Skipping the piercing upgrade

@Sg_Death came up with this idea in https://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/comment/418396/#Comment_418396 and I wanted to give it more attention in case people are upgrading their Shane's Buckshot now.

If seems like a great idea to me. Unlike the Harpoon Gun and Decimator Piercing is the last trait for Shane's Buckshot, so you still get lucky and Destructive, but not the extra damage (600 or something?) of level 30.

Good idea or bad?

    Sounds like a good idea to me, and if you decide you want Piercing later then you can always upgrade it, no problem. I failed to realize this before upgrading mine, so I'll have to wait until they make another one available. Hopefully that one will have another trait instead of Piercing, so it can be fully upgraded.

    I totally understand the logic, I considered trying it but ultimately decided to fully upgrade it.  It isn't in my nature to not max something, besides I want to be able to use it with Shane or Alpha and even then with Sasha there are some occasions where you want piercing to work for the extra damage/kill.

    I've dabbled with the shotgun on the room in this week's challenge, it charges fine enough and the special function is pretty handy for extra stuns/saving assault charges. I think I'll give it a run in GW next week instead of the harpoon to see how it does.

    I like not having piercing in part because then I can use one turn to attack and the next to recharge. I can fire into a group of walkers and know it'll charge her up. Maybe I'll upgrade it too in the end though. Just wanted to stop people in case.

    I won't talk too much about Sasha's current charging skills as it is a touchy subject on the forums at the moment :lol:. It is not as guaranteed as that in my experience. Even with piercing I have fired into a pack of walkers and gotten mostly body shots but only 1-2 charge points. Since the shotgun has limited range it does affect how many total walkers you can hit in a single turn.

    Have your cake and eat it too...they will release it in bundles soon enough and then you can have one each way.

    True. My bad. I think the chance to charge up with Sasha, silver lucky weapon and lucky character trait is 42.5% per body shot she gets. If her traits are level 5 that is. Then around 5% more per level.

    While I get the concept, it seems that being a much weaker weapon requiring 50% more kills to charge puts it way behind the harpoon, even with the area stun and wider regular attack. I’m leaving Sasha with the harpoon and letting others play with Shane’s fully upgraded shot.

    The name of this weapon, "Shane's Buckshot," irks me to no end!!!
