Not enough low quality fragments

The problem is that players don't get low quality fragments, or even components, often enough. And we need them to move through the bonuses pattern.

Nightmare distance doesn't present players with any grey fragments. Or brown. This is actually the most compelling reason to run Hard over nightmare even if you get through the first half of nightmare (the odd week of eugene tokens in hard instead like last week is a rarity).

Seasons missions, which players grind for gold, radios and gas, doesn't offer any. So when we do our daily mission and go get 30 Ezekiel kills or run 6 missions with Jerry, we don't get any crafting bits and bobs.

Outpost doesn't count. I barely remembered it to say that it doesn't count.

The drop rate itself is even skewed against fragments towards components.

They will never appear in guild gift chests, and rightly so.

The worst is the black market itself. Players who don't know any better trade away their low quality fragments only to discover, when someone explains it to them, how big of a mistake it was to lose those grey fragments.

Scavange and challenge are the two places we can aquire them. While i love mm's, it does cut down on the number of chests i open.

Following the current gold 5:1 ratio, a green component should be 14 gold.

And though i don't want to buy green fragments, crafting with green has it's uses (class bonus locations) and some players have gold to spend even on green.

I would like to see packs of fragments available for gold purchase. This should follow the 5:1 ratio. Brown fragments would be 2.8 gold each. Grey are .56.

Upcharge slightly and offer

x5 brown fragments 15 gold
x5 grey fragments 3 gold

I would buy these. I think they should be in the black market. I bet you'll sell more of them than those 70 gold blue fragments.

Yeah gas booster on component event is the best way to go , but I haven't been able to motivate myself to do this in years.

Need some extra incentive. Too much XP and trash.

I would like the option to trade down components too. One gold for 5 blue etc down to gray.

Also, I want to trade 1 gold frag for 2 random gold components.

As for noobs and trading off all their craft material... There's no way around that.

Looking at the reward crates, it's not difficult to realize that the only things increase when you upgrade your survivor level are EXP and tomatoes (training cost and reward).

When you level up your survivors and buildings, the cost rises significantly, so raising EXP and tomatoes in crates is no doubt necessary.
The harder the missions, the longer the healing time, thus more gold for healing.
The higher equipment/survivor/building level, the gold cost for (fast) training is higher.
The higher the mission, the higher the gas cost, more gold if no gas available.
The more gas required for scavenging, the less missions can be played with a full tank, the smaller chance getting frags/comps.

And yet, gold reward from crates at level 3 mission is equal to level 32 mission; and you can only get 1 frag/comp from a crate regardless of the mission difficulty/amount of gas spent.

I suggest improving it by adding a couple more of gold and frags/comps per crate, for example:
+5 gold and + 1 frag/comps for every +5 in mission difficulty, starting from level 15. The amount of epic frag/comp increases every +10 and legendary every +15.

    @Vov very insightful

They make it harder to progress the more total time you've invested, but since you've invested so much time, it ultimately makes it more likely that you'll reach for you credit card.

    Very insightful

If course another option is to add a crafting components scavange version.

We have an items scavange version. It's total crap. It only drops unusable grey and brown items at obscene rate, each of which sells for far less than a regular chest with xp. So it doesn't make sense to do the gear scavenge because you simply make more xp by opening chests in regular xp scavenge.

So actually the best solution is to swap the useless item scavenge mission for a usefull components scavenge mission. And if players want to farm the low quality grey and brown crafting bits to upgrade in the black market for tokens, let them.

This fixes so much. It's easiest for everyone. Balance is retained.

Well, enlighten me then, because im trading them all the time. Is it because you can craft them in hopes on getting better tiers?

The grey and brown fragments/badges are only for scraping while moving through the circle.

The grey ones are valuable for an on purpose fail to move around the crafting map.

I've been thinking about the grey badge frags being off for a while.  I've been saving up for a crafting session, currently I only have 31 grey badge fragments but 434 total grey components. None of my other rarity of components is off by that much.  I haven't traded up rarity of badge frags since the new crafting process came to be.

I don’t understand either. Are you guys saying that there’s a map you’ve worked out like the last one where we can manipulate or control the badges we get?

That's absolutely what they are saying.

After crafting at A12, if you don't jump or anything, you need to craft 18 worthless badges before getting a good one again at A30. So you need a lot of those grey and brown ones to get to the good spots. When you understand the system, you manage with less waste, but you still need several low-level frags for each high-level frag.

Yes for example if you find yourself at slot A11 and you know your next badge will be A12, with possible bonus of IPR (iron skin, power strike, ruthless) you will use your good components to craft either DAMAGE or CRITICAL DAMAGE.

Check my footer. The map and a guide to use it will be posted on the forum eventually, but I wanted to avoid it because it's nearly complete, and the version posted here will circulate and people download and don't update the map with new changes.

In the meanwhile all info is on Discord.
