Cross-Classing

In the latest season missions, we got the opportunity to play Assault characters as Scouts: First Rosita in "Earn your Stripes", and then Mercer in "Interview". At the time, I was hoping that might be a sneak peek at a feature to come, an interesting way to shake up our routine a bit. After all, pretty much all Walking Dead characters end up using both melee weapons and firearms at some point. But the latest update didn't include any of that.
Anyone else thought that would be a feature worth exploring?

Yes I agree. We are ready for a hybrid melee/ranged character. Lil ass kicker should be the first melee/ranged hybrid.

Love this idea, what's to stop Sasha having a knife in a leg holster or Scout Rick with a Glock.

I’ve sometimes wondered about this. What I pictured was something like, any character can play as any class and therefore can be equipped with any weapon/armour, though the weapon and armour need to be the same class. The movement/base stats would then be adjusted to match the weapon/armour equipped. Lots of LTs wouldn’t translate well to other classes, but it’s fun to think about the ones which would, imagine SPY but with SR as the assault!

I think Alpha would be the best bruiser in the game. Would love to hear anyone else’s suggestions for LTs transferring brilliantly to another class. T-Dog assault?

But I don’t think it’d really work because of class specific traits. Oh well!

I thought that weapon crates could have been used in story and scavenging missions, as a replacement for typical chests. Start as a melee class, reach a specific point in the map to pick up guns, and make your way to the exit. Just to add a little variety.

It gets a little complicated once you factor in traits and survivor equipment of course.

What if the developers made it so that class specific traits just didn’t do anything if you equipped the heroes with weapons from another class?

So you could take advantage of Alpha’s great LT, but if she had Marksman and Critical Aim then it wouldn’t have any impact. I’d be happy with that trade off
