The changing of weapon upgrade times with the updates!!!

I'm sure some people have noticed buy now since the new update that happened today that the weapon upgrade times are no longer five seconds and they're back to the hour long waits. Just a quick poll who prefers the five-second weights over the hours and hours on the weapons!!!!!!!!

I think everybody here would say they'd rather wait five seconds than several hours, but the five second upgrades were a sort of gift from NG for the hassles that came with the previous update.

It was a nice gift that will be missed.

To play Devil's Advocate it does reflect the reality of the time it would take to upgrade gear.

Still I'd love to see it there. The wait for everything else is so painful!

5 sec upgrades were too good but now they are ridiculous long.

I don't think the times are that long. Yeah, they are drastically longer than five seconds, but we were getting pampered. I have played games where the higher end stuff takes 18-24 hours, even longer sometimes. The difference is, however, that resources in NML take so long to collect compared to many other games.

Fortunately we can still use the weapon while it's upgrading... Unlike survivors.

Maybe they could decrease waiting time a bit. 5 seconds were too good but also not realistic, even for a game.

Yes, it would be nicer if upgrade time was 1 minute per level of item- ridiculously long times slow down gameplay too much. Players gotta play!

@Necroboogie it doesn't slow down gameplay at all... You can keep playing and using the weapon.

Yes but if you need the extra damage on a upgraded item or unlocking a trait, then more than likely you have to wait and use a lesser item. It's all well and good to have an item cook overnight, but it doesn't do you any good if you get said item at the beginning of middle of your game play; just a waste of game play to wait that long- again it's all about how fast/slow you want game play to be. Sure you could always insta it if you have deep pockets, but again that brings in the whole F2P (free to play) argument. Slower upgrade times are a mechanism to encourage in game spending.(sometimes guilty)

F2P has little to do with it. If anything, F2P is more affected by the slow collection of resources.

To your point if you have more than enough exp to level a item 3x but have to wait 6+ hours for each upgrade what's the point?? There is not going to be one best weapon or armor if the game is going to continue to grow, so that constant huge wait is always going to be there - but wait for XXX gold we'll save you that 18+ hour ordeal.... For an item that you'll eventually replace anyway. There's no real reason for such long upgrade times but to get players to spend $, it's all about how much your willing to dole out consistently to have an edge, and people will always be willing to pay to avoid waiting.

Newer players are the ones that feel the effects of the long wait times most as it does slow how fast they can get through levels and compete in events. 1 hour for level 4 item and 4 hours for a level 8 item is ridiculous for new players starting out. Ohh but wait you can still use the item, it just doesn't give you any benefit til that time...but wait you just got a better item in that time....

Lmao that's a understatement!! Heh by the time you upgrade items now, you could have found and be beyond their use...

Have you guys really gone through your inventory and seen the upgrade times on items? That time is for one upgrade by the way... Now multiply that by 2-3 if not longer to get an item fully upgraded. Its bad enough that survivors take so long to upgrade but that's 1 of 3 usable characters - there's (right now) 2 items each character uses and you can only upgrade one at a time. That's If your only trying to equip one crew - C'mon how many survivor slots do you have?
If I had to put up with that leveling I probably wouldn't have stuck around, or would have had to struggle to accomplish as much in events.
Worse is the gold cost to insta level a item, even at 10% it's a fleecing.

This is why I think the upgrade times should be shorter, probably not like 5 seconds - And you're getting more weapons, then you're throwing away weapons, but eh that's how the game goes and it's all just luck

The way I see it is this:
The game is what it is and upgrading is as much of a tactical thing as your fighting strategy. Therefore you need to use your head.
Personally, I fight in the day and upgrade through the night.
Or accept that I can't use certain characters and just use others.

There is still one big issue. 90% of game we use only hunters team. I don't even care of upgrading other survivors gear...

The flaw with the argument that the times should be shorter is that there is simply not enough XP to upgrade all your gear unless you're farming like mad. You have to choose wisely what gear to upgrade specifically because you might get something better. I think it's an interesting game mechanic that enforces thoughtful play.

The flaw with your argument is that you can buy an instant upgrade so you neither have to be thoughtful or wait to have enough exp to upgrade anything. There's nothing "thoughtful" to having to wait 6+ hours for one upgrade to an item that needs 3.

Established players should have the resources, equipment and time to kill to wait for a top tier item, but it's a detrement to players just joining or working their up the ranks. Let's face it 99% of items are going to be scraped at higher levels so there's much less issue of wait time, and most players should have established items to trade amongst their survivors.

Items are not permanent fixtures like buildings, especially since the levels are going to be constantly improving so at a not to distant time they'll become only worth scrap. You don't go into a game hoping to have huge wait times to improve something you'll replace as new items come available. I could see if it was a player crafted item with stats that you chose, or with top tier upgraded - but I'm talking about mid grade stuff to level with only decent/fair traits.
