Personally, I'm a huge fan of the current set up. Yes, I'm an end gamer-ish. Just returned after a 3 month hiatus because the grind was unreal and had an ACTUAL job to take care of. I've been able to pluck my way along to my highest rsl lvl I've ever achieved... because I've had the time to do it. The increased rewards along the way seem to be in line with the past format. Kudos @Kaz

One thing I really respect is the willingness to leave it alone for a couple weeks and see how it plays out. I'd like to see more changes but let's see the impact of these changes first.

The 30 Gas is awesome! Keep this permanently!

The lower number of rounds is “meh.” I stopped last week at 33.1 and had 1564 Stars. I completed 33.1 and only got 1256 Stars. So, I’m not getting as many of the rewards compared to the old system. I’m only at 9 Round Passes compared to 11 or 12 from last week too.

But, overall, this is a step in the right direction. It would be nice to see the individual and guild rewards go up though.

Everything you guys have done so far is spot on. Please don't change anything. Really enjoying the challenge progression this week.

Gas is great triple rounds to late for the rewards we get, start triple rounds little earlier or give us rewards that are significant in change, I don’t see much

"This sucks. I'm progressing way too fast in the challenge and it's terrible." <--- that's what I said to myself at the beginning. But having played the week out, I will say I am pushing to difficulties once uncharted and enjoying trying to strategically push through though challenge. My top survivors are 23 x 2 and half the rest are 22s. I didn't think I'd be down with this change, but I have truly enjoyed it.

I think the rewards are correctly adjusted so thats good. I still hate the welfare geared towards the lower players and guilds but whatever. If this change becomes permanent, could we wipe the old personal high scores from the system and start new? Our benchmark from the old system serves no purpose in a new system.

To be honest the change hasn't affected me as much as the first UC, less stars but same levels to aim for. TG gas is awesome, please keep it.

Several players in my Guild have commented positively about the extra gas. Wait times aren't so long and the stars are achieved faster. Personally I love the shorter play and have been able to have the time to push to a higher level. I like the change. At 34.2 right now, 10 round passes. Close to the 11 round passes earned last week.

I love this challenge. i hit an easy wall on friday. I'm scavenging, doing outpost raids, the distance ..basically all aspects of the game. i dont care about star count or round passes cos suddenly im having so much fun just being relaxed and actively playing instead of stressing. I missed 28 hours of playing over the weekend because of work but I did not feel penalized. This is the right direction

Well I still am going to say the rewards are in need of improvement. Come on now. I reach this high and all I get is 32 michonne tokens. At that rate it will take me around 15-16 weeks to get one 500 trait upgraded. Be more generous with the tokens already. Drop us like 512 tokens of hero and or regular tokens as you do in them radio golden radio calls. I believe we earned it. This 32 tokens is a slap in the face for us high level players.

I haven't been able to reach max level since playing this game. I'm level 68 now, maybe 100 million tomato cans from lvl 70. Every time I've gained lvls and gotten closer to the dangling carrot, the carrot was moved farther out along with the rewards that came with it. Make your changes. I have achieved a zen state of apathy.

I'm thrilled we're finally getting a challenge change test that lasts for more than a single week, since that would always throw everything off. This week we get our baseline for this challenge structure, since the round passes everyone has are based on this system. I loved the small reduction in rounds played, and while I would prefer many more rounds to be cut out, 5 rounds seems like an alright compromise. Based on some of the comments from another thread of mid-level players wishing triple rounds started sooner, I wonder if cutting out the same number of rounds, but shift where the rounds are cut from.

I said this in another feedback thread, but I figure I'll mention it here:
    sbf said:

If the goal is to remove 5 rounds, personally I'd be more interested in rounds taken off the beginning rather than taken off more mid-level missions because I want to see players getting better... max-level, competitive players don't feel all that much of a difference between 20 and 29.3, but giving an extra tier at 29 would give another chance for mid-level players to push their team to a much more satisfying completion, and get better rewards. Plus the best way to get to those very high levels is to be comfortable playing at them, and the more you play them, the less anxious you'll be trying to pass a level. I've seen players with lower level survivors and mostly green badges play at +10 without dropping down to one-star. When the going gets tough, you've got to adjust your teams accordingly and look for the moves that will keep you alive.

@Kaz What about cutting two rounds from the bottom (start at a slightly higher level) and then have triple rounds could start at 29? Any chance we could see that in one of the following challenges?

I don't care about any changes except the 30 gas after every restock. That is an awesome feature and I hope it becomes permanent.

This week and last week, I've finished the same difficulty round. I got the same number of (deluxe) challenge/token crates (But had to play two more maps for that last week, to get the final crate).

I hardly played on Saturday or else I would have been able to some more.

Difference is that last week we had a halved healing times event, this week we had not. So the reduced rounds enabled me to finish the same difficulty. (I have spent some gold on healing today (around 70 or so) to make up for missed playtime on Saturday - but with more time in my end, I wouldn't have had to and would probably been able to go higher).

Now, last week I got 12 round passes but this week I got only 10. Which means that the next challenge, some of the grind will be reintroduced for me. I will have to play 2 more rounds than this week to get to the same point - so it's just 3 rounds less which I think will not be enough.

Is there any way to award more round passes after a certain amount? For example, if you get 8 round passes, you will receive 2 after that for each 3 rounds finished? So would go from 8 to 10 and from 10 to 12?

Or alternatively reduce the number of rounds needed to get one round pass after a certain amount of rounds finished? @Kaz

Because otherwise it will not do much for end gamers - and cutting more rounds would not resolve that issue (and might cut challenge too short for lower level players).

Currently, it's not possible to change the number of rounds passes you get based on the difficulty of the mission nor the number of rounds you've completed. But I agree that this is something that doesn't seem enormously complicated to develop (but what do I know, right? I'm not an engineer). But those are options that we'd probably discuss only after the Guild Wars updates.

More passes after a certain level, why not?

    Okay, what's your problem?

You seem to hate the players that have been playing longer and/or are being able to tackle higher difficulties than you so you disagree with everything that could cut the grind for them (don't really include myself, even though I made it to difficulty 34 - I am nowhere near what others can do).

Shouldn't more round passes at a higher level fix some of the problems (at least until something more elaborate can be done)?

Lower/mid level players can still grind, higher players get to the point where it become interesting for them somewhat quicker.

If challenges would really cater to the high level players, we would start at difficulty 30. And that's still warm-up rounds for the players who can score 2k+. (Heck, that's even warm-up for a player like me whose best score has been 1620.)

There has to be a compromise or else everyone will ultimately be discouraged from playing, lower to mid level players because they can't play challenge much, higher to elite players because they burn out over time.

It would also be nice if the costs capped at 5 - because the rewards are not that much higher (if at all) that it would warrant the higher costs of 6 gas (especially since we might need to replay maps).

Personally I hate the 30 gas! Who wants to play more of this game anyway!

Seriously though, who wouldn't want more gas all the time? Why would such a change need to be discussed to begin with?

As for the triple rounds starting later, I have to say, I loved it. Not only did I get to the highest RSL in a challenge I have ever done, but I also got more stars because I played more rounds. Not only that, but on Saturday I did the Distance as well (Normal mode to relax in between healing from the weekly challenge, and to get those Carl tokens).

This week was basically the most fun I had playing this game in a long time.

I use to be very sceptical but i appreciate the fact that also the lower level players and those who play between lvl 32 and 35 are heard, thx so far.
Like all the others i like the gas flood.
One thing that may be a small compensation for the loss of stars because of the more difficult levels from 32 and up may be to reduce the hospital time. That would make many players keep on trying to reach one more level and therefore fight for a few more stars without bleeding gold...
The shorter healing time could for example start from lvl. 32

I wouldn't mind an overall reduction of healing times - especially with guild wars coming and a shared hospital.

Otherwise, especially F2P players might have a problem and might have to decide between challenges and GW because of the long healing times/steep gold costs for healing.

Exactly. What can i use the gas flood for if my survivors are all in the hospital?

Most players are very focussed on stars... me too.
Stars is the holy parameter istnt it? Every tries to change the gameplay because of the grind are difficult, ok.
Did anybody came on the idea to think about the 3 star rule on itself? Why not from the start begin with for example 4 stars or 5 (by cutting some rounds). Its only to find some parameters for that, for example = a player got 4 stars as long as no walker even touch him. I am sure its possible to find more.

    I don't have a problem, only another opinion :)
I certainly don't hate high level players, why should I?
I only stated that exactly LVL 27 to 32(playground/grinding ground of midlvl) were made substantially tougherand this for the 3rd time in less than a year
My main concern was the constant changing the rules and the complete absence in bringing new things to the game..
Weirdly enough, never got any reaction on this from NG
Fyi, I'm lvl 70 player myself
