Players Switching Countries (In Game) and Being on Multiple Leaderboards

So I see the United States just got a new citizen today...
I am not sure if people do this so they can spy on the scores of other countries for NW (which would be a disgrace) or if there is another agenda but if that person legit does not reside in multiple countries then why would they want to do it?
I have a concern about people doing this @Fluxxx. If people keep switching countries and are allowed to stay on all the leaderboards they have switched too than the local leaderboards will become meaningless. They will be lesser renditions of the global since everyone will be on all the leaderboards.
Can NG make it so that you can only be on one leaderboard at a time? Makes it difficult to tell who is from where (especially for Nation Wars) but also those who want to legit play for placements in their own countries.

Agreed. I would love to see something like this added, I'm currently 14th all time UK and there are at least 4 people above me who aren't UK players and I've had to pass many more along the way

it is very strange how NG handles which leaderboard you're on. I am hungarian, I live in hungary but my phone-s language is set to english, so it puts me on the us leaderboard, very annoying
so I usually set my language to hungarian and restart the game to see where I am on my nations list and then set it back to english, maybe the guy you see is doing the same thing -
Or maybe it’s a good way to find those possibly using exploits?
Not accusing, but these players are not Canadian and aren’t in Canada!
Maybe you could at least remove them?

He just joined the US leaderboard today so if he had the situation then he either waited a LONG time to do it or he was able to score that high VERY quickly....
But in your case I see the predicament. It should at least remove you from one of them as you switch though. That or your country of origin remains as it was when you first started the game. If you move then perhaps support can change it for you.
That said the system needs changing in my opinion... -
I have an independent guild that has members from several countries. I'm in the US and the leader of guild. On Wednesday when the challenge starts, one of my teammates will show up on current local leaderboards for US even tho he's in a different country. I just thought this was due to having several countries being in same guild. And we've been in the UK leaderboards also as a guild because we have a few members from the UK. Is it possible that the new person on leaderboards had someone join guild from US? I don't really pay that much attention to the leaderboards so don't know who's from where to start with, i'm just thinking of the possibility of what could've happened to make them appear on it. I only do around 1200 on challenge so leaderboards is out of my league...I may get to make an appearance Wednesday but then get left in the dust!

I had a member who joined TheHerdReturned (a US guild so to speak) who is from China. She scored over 2k 2 weeks ago and was not on the US leaderboard (although she would have been with her score) so not sure what is happening there with your guild. -
Ah shit @Grinch. I see myself on the Canada leaderboards too (Jeff, Legacy Eh). I think that must have happened when I traveled to Canada recently. Apologies about clogging up your leaderboard.Proud member of Mavericks OG, a top 3 global GW and challenge guild.

Also @SavannahGuy81 visited us a few weeks back and was not on US leaderboard. I see him on Canada's though which is his country of origin. Hmmm..
-
@vshield50 oh wow! Hmmm?! I would've thought the china player would've showed up in US board like we do...weird. My teammates from the UK have been saying we were on the UK leaderboard for a couple of years now. I just thought that was how it worked...u show up on every leaderboard for the countries represented in guild. We don't have any now, but in the past, we've had a couple of players from Canada and they said we would show up on the Canadian board too. I honestly thought that was pretty cool that we showed up on the UK and Canadian board. But I can see how it would mess with NW stats.

It's device based and some devices usually default to US, besides everyone can simply change config and appear into a different leaderboard.
The only problem I see here is that once you pop in a certain countries' leaderboard, you stay there permanently until someone passes you in score.
All country leaderboards should be open for everyone to see, and this is just bad design. NG can fix it.
I also think all cheating discussions should be made to NG and it's up for NG to confirm it or not. Too many accusations going on these days. -
I've been very vocal about this issiue with the NG team. Like @WellyLuga said it's very apparent on the UK local lb. It keeps on happening.
I won't go into what I personally think about it because it won't do any good but I would very much welcome a fix to it.
Unfortunately it's been "not the priority" for a long while now. Which is annoying but fair enough they do have some really important stuff to look into now like GW and exploits.
Hopefully it'll get fixed eventually and it won't be "not the priority forever"
I said it myself few times in the past, the easiest fix to it would be, whenever you switch to a given country and then switch back, you'd only appear at only one local lb at the time, whichever you're currently switched to. Whenever you switch back, your name disappears from the given local.
That being said I have no clue abut coding and programming and I don't know how hard is that to implement from this side of things. -
@Grinch "not accusing" but you've circled few particular names and mention exploits.
That's not cool and it most definitely is not an exploit.
It's annoying whoever is willingly and awarely doing it but IT IS NOT and exploit, let's make that clear. -
On one of my devices, the language is set to English (UK) so I'm "in the UK", on the other it's German so I am in Germany (where I actually am).
It's absolutely weird...
If I was on the leaderboard, I would be on both the UK and German leaderboards which I wouldn't mean to be.
Best solution would definitely be if you could only be on one leaderboard at a time.Leader of Morbid Sinners and Morbid Spirits

Can't be sure but I think it switches with the language setting
I assume so cuz I know I have the most stars for my actual local but a friend showed me previously I wasn't; changed the language and there I was again
@DLich put that on the agenda list some time ago so maybe it was solved
PS haven't checked if I disappeared again tho
But I think you kinda are trying to grow a fly to elephant sizeposthuman -
it definitely switches with the language settings, which is unfortunate, at least for me and for the people on the bloated us and uk boards
the best would be to be able to set it from the app, and it would trigger the deletion from the previous board -

If it is based on language on your device then when QE2 kicks the bucket and Charles is in charge you’ll all need to select King’s English so who knows what country you’ll end up in.
EDIT: Fat fingered QE3 -
On iOS the game reads the country your device is set to.

Y para Android sabes como hacerlo o conoces a alguien que sepa? Quisiera ponerlo para que me apareciera en Puerto Rico. -

At one point this was against the rules. I had a top 10 player in my guild a while back from Australia. She purchased an iPad in the states. So when she played on her phone it was Australia and iPad was USA. Another top guild tried saying she had someone else in the states playing her account, completely wrong. She was told by NG to change the settings so they both match or she'd be banned. Funny thing is, she had never realized one showed USA. The Guild stalking her star count kicked it off.
-
I find this really annoying too. Being in New Zealand, there have been accounts that show up on the leaderboard and then don't improve their star count. Now I know that they were only there for a short while and gone. But their place on the leaderboard stay till I pass them.
Would like it if NG got this sorted so I can be number 1 again ;-) -

Debes configurar el idioma de tu cel en español (Puerto Rico) y se cambia automáticamente. -
Just out of interest if you switch countries in game do you also get the different bundle values for that country?
-
I don't. Same on both devices.Firekid said:Just out of interest if you switch countries in game do you also get the different bundle values for that country?

Ok, wondered if some were doing it to get a better deal. Thanks @Jaden

The region that is assigned to players is based on the "Region" your phone is set in. Being on multiple leaderboards is a bug, so I'll look into that and see if we can do something about it.
