Chose any language you want. It should not be a problem. It would be insane if you weren't allowed to change the language to whatever suits you.

That should be absolutely ok! I think what happens is that people change their region on their phone (from what I gather Fluxx is saying) and many if not most would do this so they can be on other leaderboards....

Hmm... there must have been something else going on. At one point, true, there were complaints/accusations that some guilds (I won't mention names) were sharing accounts out between players in different countries tso they could maximize scores of low-scoring weaker players. This was easily verifiable by tracking originating IP address traffic. The originating IP could be in Germany in the morning, in Canada that evening, and back in Germany the next day.

As far as I'm concerned you can set your device to whichever region you want w/o NG having a say in it. That said, you may get in trouble if you are playing behind a VPN and chose random gateways outside of your country.

Some of you may say... oh, but it wouldn't be fair for someone to buy bundles in yen if it happened to be cheaper than whatever... say Canadian dollars. That should not concern anyone. The currency in the game is set to the currency of your credit card's billing address whether you are living in Timbuktu or Bumblefuck Texas.

In other words, it may be a dick move to crash someone else's country leaderboard, but no one can stop you. I go back and forth between US and Puerto Rico depending on how much I miss the island or whether I feel like being a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond.

If you're a competitive player and your country doesn't have anyone else getting over 1K stars, why not?

Afraid of a little competition?

Athletes from all over the world come to the US to compete in American sports (and vice versa in some cases) so why not in a virtual setting too?

There's no problem with what you've mentioned in real life competition but here it's a completely different thing.

Your comparison is out the game reality and doesn't relate at all.

It's not about "being afraid of competition" that's not the point at all, you've missed it light years away.

You probably haven't followed what's happening and this thread itself to realize what really is happening.

What it happening is, players from different countries intentionally switch their language settings to appear on given other local lb and by doing that they screw it intentionally by going back to their own few seconds or minutes after. Their apperance remains despite of switching back.

Going your track of thought it's fine when someone moves countries permanently and decides to represent the given country.
Anything except that its just screwing with the games local lbs.

Also going to your track of thought, when various athletes go to US to compete in American sports, they still represent their own country, not American sports (local lb in this case as an example) and they do not affect any local American competition for that matter.

Even when there are other nationalities representing American sports in America, whenever that competition is finished, they go back to where they are originated from and they go back to representing their country. After representing the American competition, their influence on that resets. Do you see what I'm saying?

@ATLAS-Z you're awesome buddy but that said I will speak for myself here and say I am not "afraid of a little competition" nor do I see anyone here saying that they are.

I have been at the top of the global leaderboard before and last week I was 11th with a few cheaters above me so if all those people want to move to the US leaderboard fine but it just makes the local boards obsolete.

That said @ATLAS-Z I am down for a little star competition between you and I next week if you so desire....😉😁🤗

There is no setting on my tablet to change the region. I can only change the language. And still I am on the UK leaderboard (if I score high enough, of course) when I am using my tablet on which my language is set to English (GB).

So it's not necessarily players changing their region settings. That might be paired with the language settings - like I said before.

On some devices that will likely be different (doesn't make sense anyway that changing the language automatically changes the region).

People who intentionally change their region settings to mess up other lbs are jerks, though.

I changed my language on my alt account to Spanish and then France. I still remained on the US leaderboard. I even restarted the game when I changed the language so that does not seem to be the factor.

I believe that the people doing that are changing actual phone settings. I don't think there is anything in the actual game that makes that change which makes the situation a bit suggestive...

There might have been a misunderstanding: I am talking about device language. In-game language is set to English on both of my devices - that doesn't change anything.

Now you may blame Lenovo, maybe, if it's also different on other Android devices, but this is how it is for me.

And if using different devices set to different languages linked to regions like that, people may be on several leaderboards which is the case for me.

It seems once they appear on leaderboard they stay there forever but their score is not progressing.

@ignas yes that how it works. Once you switch back, your score freezes and can be live updated only one local lb at the time. That score will eventually go away (if no more intentional switches will be made) but it might take ages depending on the players.

That's when intentional language settings change come into play and some people keep doing that once in a while to keep the score updated on any given locals. That is not cool.

A bit off topic but I'll run with this.

First I note that you stated to this thread "afraid of a little competition" but then when you were challenged you started giving reasons why you yourself could not compete. Then you suggest that whales don't earn their ranks but that you are amused by cheaters... I find that disturbing but I validate your opinions and agree to disagree.

It is obviously fine if you are not interested in being competitive but you seem to be speaking out of two sides of your mouth here (or keyboard I guess). You talk about others being afraid of competing then you infer that the competition is illegitimate (to some degree) because it favors paying players.

Most people who compete spend money to do so. Pro golfers hire trainers, buy equipment, etc and although I am not putting NML on the same scale, there is still an element of strategy and ability when it comes to scoring high. You can have free healing and unlimited gas but if you don't know how to strategize (I.E. picking the best traits to use, positioning your survivors appropriately, using overwatch effectively, utilizing the right gear for the situation, picking the right lineup, opening crates in the right order, attacking the right enemies at the right time, badging your survivors appropriately based on the best playing style, maximizing your survivor and equipment traits during gameplay, etc.) then you are not going to score as high as others can.

That said take a month, take a year, save your gold, practice, phone a friend, say a prayer or do whatever it is you feel will help you out. I'll buy a booster for you too that week if you so wish and my offer stands 😉
