I Need a New *Shotgun* very very badly..

What survivor level is it OK to buy your first Endgame weapon?.. I am at almost level 22 and still using level 12 epic shotgun.. I think I made a mistake when I made a Hunter my main a.o.e damage dealer instead of a Assault.. Really need to buy a new shotgun but fear that upgrading from now to level 29-32 will take infinite tokens..

I think effect weapons are worth getting as level doesn't matter so much as what they do. Take Shane's incendiary buckshot for an example, all you want from it is to burn walkers and use the concussion round. You can also get the festive shotty in the black market for gold.

You should ideally wait until you're max level (29) until you start buying weapons and armour. I guess a few levels below is okay if you've got reinforcement tokens built up.

There are better weapons for hunters than the shotgun though. The winter harpoon is probably considered the best hunter weapon and can be bought for 1k gold from the black market. The scoped crossbow would be a good alternative if you got that from the recent event?

@Stalker20 Yes I have my eye on that festive one, building gold for it.. Planning to buy it at 24ish..

@WellyLuga Imagine the damage difference it can make, allow me to farm easily and more.. Isn't it worth it?..
(Edit: Level 12 epic shotgun 163 DMG - Leg. Shane's Buckshot 831 DMG at level 21)

If purely for farming then perhaps just upgrade a weapon you found in a crate? Something that had bore, piercing, lethal/fire. Something like that, premium weapons aren't really required when you're only fighting walkers a few levels above you.

Speaking of shotguns, i was always hoping that there would be a farming shotgun since Hershel got introduced, a gun with the exp trait on it, making it a unique "Farming Hand". Like father like daughter u know :)

Same here. Both Herschel and Hunter Maggie look perfect with it:

This weapon is too iconic to not include in this game!!!! Maybe a future weapon with pushing capabilities analogous to the Bulldozer Shotty  Morning Star, and Riot Shield?:

@WellyLuga bore doesn't do enough for me and I am also not so good with angles so it has to be a shotgun..

Whenever I was farming I never had that issue but then I did rarely use hunters. Most of the time it was two scouts and an assault, whether that was Glenn/Gov lead

@WellyLuga I am torn between whether to wait a while and get a shotgun for my farming hunter(Sasha) or start leveling an assault who can farm like Abraham or may be Mercer.. Governor is levelled up but he is not one shoting mobs for me..

Yeah I think it's down to what pink stars your highest survivor is compared to Gov. If the gap is too large he will body shot too much and not kill. I'd maybe try pizza Glenn with as strong an assault you have in 2nd. That was what I always used.

@WellyLuga so you agree decent assaulter is better aoe killer than hunter with shotgun?.. I guess I'll have to level Abe.. The formation, you meant Glenn(lead), Assault and someone?...

There are many variables I guess, but an assault that can 1 shot walkers in the highest level scavange is always going to be better than a hunter. If you're not on a booster and have limited gas then Gov might be better, but if you're on a gas booster then I would always prefer using Glenn and scouts to open boxes really quickly and the assault to kill everything in 1-2 attacks

@WellyLuga, funny, I would offer the exact opposite advice; if you're on a gas booster, and claiming post-mission boxes is the goal, then running with Gov lead, Glenn for nabbing more than one mission box per turn, and a hunter (like Shane) for clearing the path, (Gov) will maximize the post mission crate return. Glenn will not. Simple as that (IMO).

If you are NOT on a gas booster, and maximizing the return on a few missions, then Maggie kills for XP bonus (paired with Glenn in lead to reward a percentage of the overall XP as tomatoes), and getting 100 kills per mission, would be my way to go.

To @Farigh 's comment, neither Sasha, nor Abe, really benefit farming, but if they are purely your damage dealers, well, us what you got, i guess.

@Phalanx44 I am holding on progression and leveling Haggie.. At level 22, her with Glenn should make up for the lost time.. I am also going to hold Sasha/Mercer back for now, they are more endgame heroes..

@Phalanx44 Fair comment, although neither of my suggestions involved farming to 100 kills. I did say it was what I preferred to use rather than the absolute best to maximise your return on gas. With PGG in lead and an assault with training gear armour you would get a consistent boost. With Gov any time you get a crate with gas, gold, radios, gear etc you lose out.

Farming is tedious enough when you're approaching max rank without adding that into the mix

@WellyLuga good point with losing out if it's not tom/XP.. Now I only use Gov as lead when I am in hurry to avail free unlocks..
