Gas tanks 4-ever

Not sure why but I've been on mission to amass gas tanks for about two years now. First I wanted 100, then 1000 ...just to see if 'box' would enough digits. Now I want 100,000. As if this morning I have 54,011. Anyone else play the game this way?

    Um... No. I barely have time to use the free gas.

    I don’t understand how people can do this. I always run out of gas? Do you just buy the unlimited gas and never have to use it?!

    I typically buy one 7 day gas booster during winter IF I take vacation around Christmas & a 3 day here and there.  Add to that every gas for trade goods on every refresh.  Between what I build up on those & normal daily play (which is a lot at times) I average 1700-2000 gas.

    Do the daily ads, do outpost raids, and get gas from trade good stores. Do special season missions to farm gas (since it only cost 1 gas cannister). Avoid doing story missions until you have a decent amount of gas (500+). Prioritize missions with low gas cost first.

    I think the most likely scenario is to only play when on a gas booster. You can stack up gas by doing the above but to get as high as 54k, nah not happening. I don't know if he's still about but Hurricane used to constantly get the 7 day gas boosters and he had a supply in the tens of thousands like this.

    Seems utterly pointless to spend money on a 7 day booster when you have thousands of gas. Too much money? lol

    I like running my gas to zero before I go to sleep. Then I have a full tank when I wake up. Repeat.

    @Chris7thLegion had it right by playing the single missions for only 1 tank and doing most if not all the Daily Quests plus you get 3 to chest to open which typically yield more tanks (+some gold) than you will use to paly the missions (avoid the costly Challenge missions). I also need to play the Outpost every couple of days to get more Crates to use to buy gas. It's a pretty addictive routine once you get rolling. Also, when the 'swarm' hits, lots of free tanks and gold bars to be had. When I (we) get the 24 hrs (or 1 week unlimited) I never accept the gift until I know I can commit significant time to milk it as much as possible. Twice in the last couple of years I waited too long to accept the gift and it went to waste (sad but true). Canadian Thanksgiving this past w/e so was distracted with family, lol, so I am only up to 54 300 as of this morning. What else..??...all my players at all level 29 and I am nightmare mode of Chapter 15, but struggling (and only play when I have free gas and have finished all regular easy tasks including he The distance) The tomato cans, once coveted, take care of themselves as do weapons' upgrades and I fine myself buying XP for 5M cans all the time. If anyone knows of any other short cuts for gas, I'm all ears! Thanks and happy TWD!
