Concerning Compensation for NY2023 FIASCO

I am aware of the challenge rewards adjustment that allows the rich to get richer, while even they cannot play a perfect challenge week.
I am aware of the (generally useless to top players) 2 days of gas and xp.

Is NG aware that, for example, some of us in the top 5% still hope to leverage full round passes to achieve max possible stars? Are they aware that the obvious gift of Sasha star hero last week has turned to ashes in this new year, as our difficult-to-obtain 26 round passes become irrelevant? All that I invested last week, to position for this week's challenge, was rendered irrelevant.

By a "bug".

I'm trying, now, to figure out what would be sufficient recompense for BOTH the waste of pushing for perfect last week AND having all that torn down by some seriously stupid notion about how to 'make the game tough again'. I don't really know.

A good start, I think, could be refunding ALL AND ANY resources spent during last week's challenge. Check the logs, write a SQL script, and unwind all expenditures during challenge missions last week. All the gas, all the tools, all the gold used to heal (a tough correlation, in that script, so err on the side of generosity).

I welcome additional (practical!) suggestions in this thread. Next Games should welcome them as well.

The game often frustrates me. Any good game should do so. That's what learning can feel like. Fair enough.

This week has engendered actual anger. Betrayal. The Grinch stole my 26 round passes after gleefully granting me the chance to get them. My personal best last week isn't so special anymore, because it was only the fourth time I had any shot at max possible stars. And NG dropped this steaming pile.

Help me understand. I know it's harder for some to score perfect this week, but why can't you get your round passes? You don't need 5358 to get all 26 round passes? What am I missing?

Maybe I can get this week's 26, maybe not. Wasn't my point.
I have 0% chance of getting 4 stars for all rounds, so no max score. And thus the 26 I had in hand lose value, because I have to get them again this week or later, to only THEN have a shot at max the subsequent week.

The general point of my question is that NG doesn't seem to appreciate that this week's screw up has impacts to some of us that go back to last week (26 RP wasted) and will go forward untold weeks (until next reasonable challenge where we can build up 26 again).

Those of you who coast to round 80 with max stars every week need not respond here--I know you're not missing out ("rich get richer").

You only need to reach 4500 stars not 5358 to get the 5358 rewards this week. Your argument makes 0 sense 😂

Mathematically, what's the lowest you can score and still earn 26 round passes?

Like say you 1 star every Mission and no star hero?

I believe you need to complete round 76, regardless of your overall star count, to get the 26th round pass.

(every 3 rounds you earn a pass)

@Cronus that I recall, but not sure about the stars total. I know it doesn't matter for passes, I was just curious

Well I guess if you work backwards...

There's 80 rounds:

-18 stars per round from 5358

Means the lowest possible score is 3918 if you 1 star every Mission without star hero (and you started with 26 round passes). 2 star Every Mission would be 4398?

Does that sound about right?

I'm pretty sure that yes some people did actually used gold and tools with Sasha Star Hero on a KAW Challenge to complete the Challenge.

Cause, hallo!! Not all who play TWD are end gamers. Not all are max. Not all spend to get the best weapons. And finally not all are super duper expert grand master skilled players.

And they don't have to be to enjoy a game!

It does help that the early round maps can be done in 7 turns with HT Maggie and a couple later maps can be 3-Starred with the right team. I hit 4666 after completing Round 78. I’m done.

Not sure if you mean yourself or others, but keep practicing! If you want to be included in the super duper best of the best then one day you will be!

Sarcasm aside, no one who isn't in this group should "expect" to finish the challenge with a perfect score, right?

@ATLAS-Z I actually do 5200+ each challenge, but no I don't want to be included in the super duper best of the best club, if that makes me forget the time when I was a new player myself and if it is that I start laughing at the now newer players.

The reason is because people are entitled and find the most ridiculous reasons to complain. There’s a huge break in logic in the statement of “I should be compensated for LAST WEEK’S challenge because of a bug in THIS WEEK’S challenge.” The lowered rewards threshold combined with 2 days of free gas/XP seems like a reasonable and equitable fix.

Anyone with a one pink star Sasha, Mercer, and Yumiko and a few seasons of GW and campaign freebies can finish any challenge, and I know OP has been playing long enough that 26 RPs should be attainable. It doesn’t take being a god mode player or having pimped out survivors to get 26 RPs these days. So complaining about last week’s RPs being totally wasted and so nearly impossible to achieve without the perfect set of circumstances is simply not compelling to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can't disagree with you here @JayZ but your first comment didn't say all these, it was just unexplained sarcastic and I couldn't understand it.

I defend noone (OP or others) neither I consider myself part of the TWD community. I read forum posts from time to time and all I see are complains by everyone about everything : strong players complain for not being able to stand out, weaker players complain for not being able to achieve what top playes can achieve ... I get annoyed sometimes, amused some other times, don't understand what's all the fuss about ... and then I read a sarcastic comment and I'm like "what? why?" That's all.

I guess I am generally less interested in the game but all that aside I am so glad that getting annoyed at trivial things isn't part of my DNA. I constantly see people getting irate and annoyed about certain things and I always find myself just not getting it, asking 'why?'. This is another instance where I am just so grateful I'm not built that way, because NML related 'problems' is the place I see it most.

On the phone game we all play there was a bug in a new mapset, it caused an issue and there wasn't much they could do to fix it there and then so we got an easy route to max rewards and a free 2 day booster. Onto the next week...

Do I get this right, that you managed to get max round passes 4 times so far and you want more compensation as you wanted to go for max this week with Haggie as a star hero? This sounds quite ambitious, to say the least. Why didn’t you use SMY again, easily get all rewards at 4.500 stars and then max this week with Carol? 🤔

in my opinion, especially for the „not-endgamers“, NG gifted a max reward round plus 2 days boosters, which is absolutely fair.
