Question about the new TOS.

In the new TOS, there is a paragraph prohibiting uploads of video, sound etc for anything game related.
My guild, like many here, share strategy online. Heck, this forum has a video vault.

Is this sharing of information prohibited now?

@JasonW As you'll have seen, I raised this question with you earlier on Slack:

"Deca’s terms for NML seem to prohibit players from uploading videos (eg to YouTube) to help others to develop their skills and so enjoy the game more. Can you please clarify whether this is what you intended? And, if not, provide some clarity on the subject in the terms?"

I also flagged that, unlike Deca's ToS, NG's terms incorporated their Fan Content Policy, which gave explicit permission for fans / players to share and upload videos, etc, as long as certain rules were followed:

It would be great if Deca could incorporate something similar, to give permission and comfort to the folks who post videos. So many of us have found them immensely helpful - and wouldn't want any of the creators to feel that they couldn't continue with them. Many thanks in advance for considering this.

I would have quit this game a long time ago if not for the many youtubes videos that helped me learn the game. Videos are extremely valuable to learning the game and rules, making contact with others, viewing techniques, expanding interest; and with developing challenges to improve play, and so much more. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I’m a little disheartened mgmt hasn’t responded to this question yet.
This is an issue that affects many of us who have been playing a long time.

IMO this will make or break NML.

This would be very bad news for all of us if it was followed through. Sharing videos and learning together is a major component of the broader NML experience for many of us and video/clip/screenshot sharing is a huge part of what keeps the community going. And it’s community generated and maintained, so doesn’t cost anything to the developers and engages a lot of paying customers in the game.

It seems bizzarre and self-sabotaging of the developers to put this at threat, I’m very confused.

My take is that the clause is meant to protect the company in specific situations, and not something they would actually enforce on a day-to-day basis. Previous attempts from publishers to control content created by players didn't go so well and I'm sure Deca is well aware of it.
