The absurdity of the proposal

This is not a mistake, rather an absurdity. "Complete x missions as a hero" missions periodically appear in daily quests. But these heroes are not in the "seasons". It turns out that in order to complete the quest, I need to perform missions with this hero either in farm maps or in an attack on an outpost. I give the screenshot as an example. Starting from the situation, we get.
I will spend 5x6 = 30 cans of gasoline on the farm.
I will spend 2x6=12 on the outpost.
And I'll get 10 as a reward. In both cases, the reward is less than the cost.

Probably more absurd to put this under Bug Reports. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. Some fine people may like to take Rufus out for an afternoon walkabout once in a while.

For flood? It's not about Rufus, the fact is that any task should imply a reward. Completing a task for which the reward is less than the resources spent on the task is absurd. The prickly cactus brought the mice to tears, but they continued to nibble on it.

In that case you have to understand how sorting the daily quests works. A set of missions is drawn, and then a set of rewards is drawn. What happens in your print is just a case of bad luck. The quest could be a "Kill Walkers with Rufus" for 10 gas, which could be worth it. Or a "Complete Missions with Rufus" for 10/15 gold, which is also worth it.

You could do 6 outpost raids and not lose quite as much gas, and gain some extremely valuable trade goods. But joking aside yes I agree, getting a task such as this is pretty rubbish. 😁

Maybe this could be where DECA could try their first hand at mission design for NML. Under the seasons tab @JasonW you could create new single missions called "One-shots". Just pile them all in that tab.
First one could be Rufus trying to protect his Moonshine "Distillery" from waves of walkers. Make sure he's equipped with the Dixieland BBQ flamethrower or the Reckonin' moltov.
The Players have list of which heroes don't have any missions yet, so it would be nice. 👌🙂

You can use Rufus on a distance mission for example. You would already have to spend gas to complete that missions anyways. so in that case the daily quest is not an unnecessary thing, but a reward for doing what you're gonna do anyways.
You can use it in the Outpost attack for example. It's usually what I do when a quest of this type appears that doesn't have a season mission with that hero. -

Absurdity - the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable
I would say the New weapon trait bait and switch is absurd.
This however I personally consider a very non-issue myself. -
