PLEASE NOTE: The first event week has started now. We are still accepting registrations, but please note that if you have already started the distance, you may no longer be able to achieve max points to compete for the rewards!

IF YOU ALREADY SIGNED UP AND ARE NOT IN ANY OF THE EVENT CHATS ON DISCORD, TELEGRAN, OR LINE: WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND YOU WITH THE CONTACT INFO YOU PROVIDED. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ME DIRECTLY. My LINE ID is polismaxima, discord handle maxia#8982 and Telegram handle is @MaxiAlb.

IMPORTANT: If you sign up, please provide correct contact info (LINE ID ≠screen name), Telegram handle (including the @), and/or Discord handle (including the hashtag and 4 digits). Also make sure you can receive friend requests (Discord) or have enabled finding by LINE ID in your settings. If you want to take part in the event, we need to be able to contact you! If you are unsure whether you have or can provide the correct info, please comment on this thread so we have an alternative means of contact and we can go from there! That also goes for anyone who has already signed up and has not been in direct contact with an event admin.

UPDATES May 18, '23 --> please note there's been a rule update and the event has been expanded to Telegram in addition to LINE and Discord, set heroes for week 1 (May 22-29 announced)

ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

THE DISTANCE MASTER CUP OF INSANITY (DMCI)

Bored of always doing the distance with SMY?

The DMCI is here for all those players who have been looking for an extra challenge to spice up the game in the distance mode! The DMCI is an event organized by players for players to test the best in nightmare distance.

Cool, so how is that going to work?

The DMCI will run in GW season breaks. The first cup will start on May 22 and finish on June 12, 2023 (3 weeks total). Participants sign up for the event via google forms (link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe8WDC--S1Oyh5zDxDBKFuYOG024rERVNgtD5VZ-l_YTrCOhw/viewform?usp=sf_link) and join our event chats on Discord, LINE, and/or Telegram. You do not need to leave your guilds for this event. For each week of the cup, the event hosts will assign a set of 3 heroes to be used in the nightmare distance. See how far you can take all those heroes just sitting on the shelf and looking pretty (looking at you Gabriel and Jerry). Every level you make will get you points, and we will keep a record (see posters on “how to get points” and “event rules” in this post for more details). After all 3 weeks are over, we will tally up the points and announce the rankings! And best of all! There will be rewards for the top five players (if ties occur a randomized selection will happen)!

Your event admins,

aMirror4nerds (Deadly Alliance), Beta (nomad), B-Town (Mavs Minis), Dark Destination (Rebellion), Diznoya (Апокалипсис), Jazzzman (Mavs XXX), Maximum Slayage (Fire Fiends), Sushiboy84 (RotInPurgatory), Uptoolate (AntiWalkers)

Poster contents in plain text for easier translation:

HOW TO GET POINTS:

Each nightmare distance level passed with the assigned set of heroes of the week will win you 100 points

 > 2100 per week possible, 6300 for the cup

To win even more points, you can do the missions with the assigned heroes and without any supports equipped, winning you an extra 75 points per level

 > 1575 per week possible, 4725 for the cup

Even more points possible at the finish line of level 21: if all three assigned heroes are alive, you get a bonus of 100 per hero

 > 300 per week possible, 900 for the cup

500 extra points if they all three have health bars in the green, 300 if two are in the green, and 100 if one is in the green

 > 500 per week possible, 1500 for the cup

Proof via video or screenshots (see event rules)

BUCKLE UP, this is not for the faint of heart!

EVENT RULES

Sign-up via google forms and joining at least one of the event chats/servers on Discord, LINE, and/or Telegram is a requirement (we need valid and correct contact info to be provided in the form for that!).

Only the assigned heroes for each week may be used for levels you want to get points on. (You may of course finish the distance with anyone you like should you lose one, but there will be no points for that.)

We will require a video or 2 screenshots for each nightmare distance mission with the assigned set of heroes: specifically, one at the very start and one at the finish line of each nightmare mission (see example screenshots in event chats/server). The first screenshot must show the starting line-up of walkers as much as possible. The second screenshot must clearly show that you only need to move one more hero to the finish line, and this hero must be in a position where he/she cannot be grabbed by walkers on the way. To get the additional 75 points per level, no support is allowed to be equipped, this must be visible in screenshots. Additionally, we require a screenshot after the final level you were able to pass with the assigned heroes, showing no other survivors have been lost until then. If you are submitting videos of missions, please make sure this is also visible before you stop recording.

For each of the three weeks, you will need to send in your screenshots before the next distance starts. May 29 = deadline for screenshots from week 1, June 5 = deadline for screenshots from week 2, June 12 = deadline for screenshots from week 3. We will be sending reminders about screenshots each week in the chats, so please make sure not to miss the deadlines!

Rewards:

1st place:

32 Riot Gear Glenn tokens + 32 Rick tokens + 32 Beth tokens + 32 Connie tokens

2nd place:

32 Riot Gear Glenn tokens + 32 Rick tokens + 32 Beth tokens

3rd place:

32 Riot Gear Glenn tokens + 32 Rick tokens

4th and 5th place:

32 Riot Gear Glenn tokens

Rewards for the top five players will be awarded in-game within 30 days of the cup’s conclusion. If there are ties, there will be a randomized selection process.

why instead of all that work we can’t try to have Deca working into a Distance mode like Last Stand where we have to play with the assigned heroes?

@capibara i don’t think they’re mutually exclusive but this is just a hopefully fun event organized by players for players who are interested in creating an extra challenge for themselves

    https://t.me/TWDNML_Elysium

Top 5 players will get rewards. Is it a joke? Realy? Thx for nothing DECA! Shame on you!
That means the ptw player with 10 star heroes and supports @ level 3 or 4 will win. Good luck!

    Hi guys!
Would you be so kind as to post the EVENT RULES as text and not as an image like you did? Thus they facilitate the translation to those who do not speak English. Thank you!

    Read the rules again:

    1. It's a community organized event, event organized by the COMMUNITY, by the community of players. It is not organized by Deca. It is organized by the players.

    2. You get additional points for not using supports, etc, etc. Read the rules again.

    3. Got a better idea? Feel free to spend your own time on organizing your own similar event. Nobody owes you anything.

    4. You're welcome to thank deca for supporting this event and me for explaining it all to you. You're welcome.

@Novell as was already explained, this is an event organized by players mainly for the fun of it. DECA has been kind enough to offer these rewards and to facilate spreading the word with in-game news. The alternative would have been simply to join for the fun and with no rewards for anyone. We organize these types of events and many participate in them not simply for rewards but to challenge ourselves and/or to meet new people in the community.

@Petr Sorry to hear this is frustrating you. This is indeed organized by players who are choosing to host this event on the platforms we are comfortable with and used to, and TBH your tone is doing little to convince me to change that ;-) I hope you have a good day

I wish you victory in the event, in which players from the strongest server will not participate😉
You can immediately give all the prizes to the members of your guild, and other players do not need to know about it in the news inside the game

It is strange not to use the telegram social network for communication, which has 1 billion downloads, against 100 million for discord and 500 million for line.

It is not really a "community event" if only the top 0.0001% of the players can actually participate and have a shot at getting rewards. I would suggest that everyone get something based on the number of players who actually complete the Nightmare Distance. That would encourage the remaining 99.9999% to actually care about this.

How about 1 Connie Token for each player that completes it?  Probably be like 25-30 Connie tokens for everyone, but at least people will want to keep up with how it is going.

    The rewards are beyond ridiculous.
Not even worth the work of reading the text.

@Petr @FuriousMoldovan May I remind you that we have rules in place on this forum? They can be found here: https://nmlforum.decagames.com/walkingdead/categories/rules

    So far you both broke:
    - Don't be toxic
    - Treat fellow forum members with respect
    - Respect the forum's topic

I deleted your posts, don't let it happen again.

@Governator @BAKU This is the first time we support a community fan event (not looking at what the previous developers did or didn't do). Thank you for your feedback about the prizes being too low or lame. Depending on the size of the event compared to the prediction we made, we might upgrade the prizes or make them bigger next time.

"I would suggest that everyone get something based on the number of players who actually complete the Nightmare Distance. That would encourage the remaining 99.9999% to actually care about this."
^ Taking this one with me, will think about it.

^ Please don't speak for every player there is. For a fun, lighthearted event it is completely fine to not reward you with tokens for the heroes you consider OP.

Not strange at all. With that logic, we would have to use Facebook Messenger.

Discord is focused on communities rather than Direct Messages. They both have similarities. Discord can be used to DM as well and thanks to group messaging you could use Telegram for communities. The functionality and features of Discord's community part, however, are more suitable for communities. Moderation/administrating an event like this is way easier on Discord in my opinion.

Of course, you are completely entitled to your opinion as well. You are welcome to open up a new topic and provide feedback why you feel that Telegram should be used for general NML communication and/or NML community events, and then discuss it in a civil manner.

I'm not saying to use Telegram as the main one, but just use it on a par with other messengers. I think that it is not at all difficult for community administrators to install an application for themselves and accept applications and results from players there, as it will be in discord.

It is beneficial for you to reach as large an audience as possible and not be limited to specific social networks that are not convenient for everyone.

I agree with you that it wouldn't be difficult. That said, people who run a community event as fans of the game are allowed to use the communication methods that they prefer.

If you want to run a community event solely for Telegram, create a plan, DM me the details, and we can see if we would like to support it with prizes/promotion as well ^_^

I'm not going to post it in here as I don't want to share how to do it with everyone, but there is a VERY easy way to cheat with this event. I'll share it with DECA or the event organizers if you want to know how...maybe there's a way to combat it.

I can offer to conduct a similar cube for the "last fight" mode on hard difficulty.

The rules are simple: every week 10 heroes are given there, and administrators choose 3 bundles from these heroes. Participants win back fights on their 3 free tickets. You can prohibit the use of supports and consumables to equalize the chances of participants.
Those who wish to play out of competition with their combos can always do so for 100 gold with an additional 15 tries.

And I don't want to do something for one social network or group. Just for each of the three networks, Telegram, Discord and Line, you can make your own administrators, as was the case in the event dedicated to March 8 for girls.

I think that it should be interesting, because many players simply don’t want to play this mode because they can’t compete in any way, while others play just randomly, because they don’t need support tokens or have upgraded them.

Rewards can be made in the form of support tokens and hold an event on a regular basis.

You're describing a mix between a community event and a new difficulty for an existing mode, that would make things official. I could list the official things involving gold and tickets as a suggestion if you want, then the NML team can discuss the idea and see if they want to do anything with it.

If someone from the NML team (for example me) is strongly involved with the administration of a community event, we wouldn't go for any of your suggested channels as long as we don't officially support them. At the moment of writing, there is no official involvement from NML's side in any of the 3 networks you mention.

If you still want to join the event, please reach out to me via directly in this thread or via forum DM :-) thank you!

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, for a long time I did not answer in any topic on the forum, but this contest forced me to open google translator.
This competition is organized by the players for the players......
firstly, only the lazy one does not know about the features of this mode, I think everyone understands what I mean.
The second is an objective assessment of the players, unbiased.
Let's say 1000 players will cover the distance, in whose favor will the jury vote?
    I think it's pure sur.
  • MaximumSlayage
    MaximumSlayage Member Posts: 91 ✭✭✭
thanks for sharing your thoughts! There will be no jury or assessment. If multiple players tie for the prizes, there will be a random selection. You can use websites for such things. What us admins are doing is to manage the players entering the event and to record the scores.
